What to see and do..

  • The 12th century Abbey du Relec is a 2 minute walk from the gite. In the village square there is a fountain and within the Abbey grounds, a lake which was hand dug by the Monks that lived here centuries before.
  • There are some pretty woodland walks surrounding the Abbey and village.
  • We are just on the edge of the 'Parc Naturel Regional d'Armorique ' So lots of walking and cycling in this area.
  • In the Village square there is a restauraunt and just a couple of miles away is Plouneaour Menez with its bakery, garage, pharmacy, post office and tabac/bar
  • Tennis courts at Pleyber-Christ, just 8.6km also a supermarket, banks, post office, creperie, bakeries and garages.
  • Lac du Drennec for fishing and sailing, there is a lovely man-made beach, cafe etc.
  • Huelgoat, 15minutes drive, is a popular and picturesque town with a lake and gorge that is strewn with large mossy, granite boulders
  • Visit Morlaix just 15 minutes drive away, for its lovely architecture and grand viaduct. Market day is Saturday.
  • .For the Beaches, Carantec just 25 minutes away is well worth a visit, beautiful fine golden sands with lots of the usual seaside activities, cates and restaurants. There is a lovely coastal path and you can walk over to the Island of Callot. The northern coastline of Brittany is beautiful, rugged and unspoilt. It is known for its pink granite.There is also a good swimming pool at Plouigneau.
  • Quimper has a rustic charm with lovely foot-bridges over the rivers that flow through the town.It has a Romanesque church dating from the 11th Century and a Catherdral, St Corentin with its gothic facades.The Museum de Beaux Arts is well worth a visit. The town is best known for its 'Quimper faïence' pottery, made here since 1690.Also for some of the best Crepes and cider in the region.
